On more than 30 bus lines in Berlin, fewer vehicles have been on the road since this Monday due to staff shortages - passengers have to adjust to longer intervals.
According to the BVG, the lines selected were primarily bus lines where there is a parallel service, e.g. an express line and a "normal" line that run on the same section. In many cases, the lines only run every 10 or 20 minutes until further notice. For many connections, however, the intervals have been extended to a five- to eight-minute rhythm.
It remains to be seen how long the restrictions will last. According to the BVG, a high level of sick leave due to the pandemic and a general staff shortage make the measures necessary. Nevertheless, the company intends to maintain around 97 percent of the bus service. Passengers can find information about the affected lines on the Internet.
