The members of the Senate will meet on Tuesday for their regular session at the Berlin Olympic Stadium.
The Senate wants to draw attention to the "Special Olympics National Games 2022", which Berlin will host until 24 June. Up to 4,500 athletes are expected in the capital to compete in a total of 20 sports.
The national games are regarded as so-called pre-games and as qualification for the World Games for the mentally handicapped in 2023, which are also planned for Berlin. Inclusion in popular and competitive sport, especially the participation of people with mental and multiple disabilities, is a major concern of the Senate, according to the Senate Chancellery.
Also on the Senate's agenda are deliberations on the Corona Ordinance. It is to be extended once again without any changes. The members of the Senate also want to discuss the results of the meeting of the hygiene advisory board on Monday. Among other things, they will discuss preparations for the situation in Berlin schools after the summer holidays against the backdrop of a possible increase in the number of Corona infections. The subsequent Senate press conference is scheduled for 1 p.m. in the press room of the Olympic Stadium.
