This program is intended for students in grades 4 through 10 who have not yet earned the Seepferdchen or the swimming badge in bronze.

According to the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Families, a total of 2,420 spots are available for the free intensive swimming courses. Of these, 1,960 spots are reserved for elementary school students. The remaining 460 spots are reserved for students in grades 7 through 10 who cannot swim yet or are not confident swimmers and have not yet earned the bronze swimming badge.

Learning to swim at various locations

The fall swimming classes will be held at eight locations: Kombibad Spandau Süd, Kombibad Seestraße, Schwimmhalle Sewanstraße, Schwimmhalle Thomas-Mann-Straße, Schwimmhalle Allendeviertel, Schwimmhalle Fischerinsel, Schwimmhalle Finckensteinallee and Kombibad Gropiusstadt. You can register for the swimming courses at www.schwimmkurse-sportjugend.de.

Reducing the percentage of non-swimmers through courses

The free swimming lessons are organized by the Sportjugend, a division of the Berlin State Sports Federation, and funded by the Senate Department for Education, Youth and Families. The goal is to reduce the number of non-swimmers in Berlin.
