Die Straße des 17. Juni

Straße des 17. Juni

Starting Friday (June 17, 2022), the National Games of the Specials Olympics will take place in Berlin. This will result in numerous road closures.

The Special Olympics will feature sporting events as well as a cultural program throughout Berlin. Road closures will be set up in three stages starting Wednesday, according to Berlin's traffic information center.

First road closures from Wednesday

Since Wednesday, Straße des 17. Juni is already closed between Großer Stern and the Brandenburg Gate in both directions for car and bike traffic. The same applies to Ebertstraße between Behrenstraße and Dorotheenstraße. Also from Wednesday, Yitzhak-Rabin-Straße and Spreeweg towards Moabit will be closed between Großer Stern and John-Foster-Dulles-Allee.

Temporary closures during competitions

Some streets will be completely closed between June 18 and June 26 during the times when the Special Olympics competitions take place. This affects John-Foster-Dulles-Allee and Heinrich von Gagern-Straße. Outside of these times, one-way streets will be set up there in each case. For the closing ceremony of the Special Olympics, Ebertstraße between Hannah-Arendt-Straße and Behrenstraße, Behrenstraße between Ebertstrasse and Wilhelmstraße, and Cora-Berliner-Straße will be completely closed from 12 noon on June 24.
