The Berlin Police received more than 1.2 million emergency calls via the 110 number last year.

To be exact, there were 1,279,030 such calls. The police announced this on the day of the emergency call, which, because of the number, falls on October 1 (1.10.).

About 230,000 calls were not emergency calls

230,535 of the calls were not genuine emergency calls, but prank calls, fake calls or calls from confused individuals. On average, 2,571 police responses were triggered each day. Many of these were urgent, so in 223,380 cases, police officers responded with flashing lights and sirens to a crime scene, an accident site or an emergency.
