For the fourth consecutive year, Berlin high school graduates have achieved an average grade of 2.3. Just under 530 students received a 1.0, according to the Senate Department of Education.
Three graduates achieved the highest score of their class, with 896 out of a possible 900 total points: two are from the Käthe-Kollwitz-Gymnasium and one from the Rosa-Luxemburg-Gymnasium. At the John F. Kennedy School, Berlin’s youngest high school graduate, at age 16, passed his Abitur - and he, too, earned a grade of 1.0.
Of the nearly 16,000 Berlin students who took the exams this year, just under 15,200 passed the Abitur. The pass rate thus rose to 95.1 percent and, according to the data, is higher than last year’s rate of 94.5 percent. In 2023, the rate was 93.8 percent. "The results of this year's final exams are a testament to the dedication and perseverance of our students," said Education Senator Katharina Günther-Wünsch (CDU). A good education opens up opportunities and lays the foundation for a successful start to vocational training, college or a career.
