Long Day of Urban Nature offers 500 opportunities to experience nature

From bat tours to birdwatching and frog walks, this weekend’s “Long Day of Urban Nature” (Langer Tag der StadtNatur) offers Berliners a wide range of opportunities to experience nature.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be more than 500 events at around 150 different locations across all districts. The Long Day of Urban Nature is organized by the Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation. The event is sponsored by Berlin’s Governing Mayor Kai Wegner (CDU). Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Adults pay five euros per event; admission is free for children 14 and under. Reduced-price tickets cost two euros. 

Nature experiences at 150 locations in the capital

Activities on offer include woodcarving in the forest, neighborhood walks focusing on Berlin’s plants, hikes along the Panke River, tours led by butterfly experts, and birdwatching for girls and women in the Tiergarten. Many events are geared toward children and families. An overview of all program items is available online. Some events are offered in sign language.
