Escape the cold for a few hours, warm up a little, and do it all without spending any money: there are many places in Berlin where you can do just that.
For example, at the two locations of the Central and State Library. "You can come to us without an entrance ticket or ID. We are a consumption-free place," says spokeswoman Milena Jovanović.
The salon at the America Memorial Library is currently very popular. Visitors can relax there and read newspapers, said the spokeswoman. The Central and Regional Library is a member of Netzwerk der Wärme (Network of Warmth) – an association of places for exchange, help, and encounters throughout Berlin. The network is aimed at a wide range of target groups, including families, senior citizens, and people without a home of their own.
For the latter, 155 facilities are listed in the network, including day centers for homeless people, numerous community centers, other libraries, and neighborhood clubs. In January, the district of Treptow-Köpenick had already explicitly referred to its eleven municipal neighborhood clubs. These are available in the district of Treptow-Köpenick during the day as places of warmth for all interested people.
