Senate grants no new taxi licenses for one year
The Senate believes there is an oversupply of taxis in Berlin. Companies are struggling to operate the service profitably. For this reason, no new vehicles will be added for the time being. more

Where can you charge your electric car? And at what price? A new overview map helps electric car drivers find the nearest available charging station in Berlin, according to a statement from the transport administration.
The Berlin e-information platform shows the locations of nearly 2,000 stations with around 3,000 public charging points—whether they are available, occupied, or out of service, how much charging costs, and what connections the stations have.
Until now, there has been no way to compare charging prices without a contract (so-called direct charging). That is now changing thanks to the map, according to the Senate. The data can also be integrated into external map services such as Google Maps.
The overview currently includes the three largest providers of charging points in public spaces, covering 80 percent of these charging points. Additional providers are to be added in the course of the year. Information on accessibility and parking space size is also to be provided at a later date. According to the Senate, there are over 6,000 publicly accessible charging points in Berlin. More than 3,500 are located in public spaces and are now gradually being displayed on the map.
