Berlin and Brandenburg will be affected by a storm front over the Baltic Sea at the start of the weekend. An official warning of storm gusts is in place for Friday.
According to the German Weather Service (DWD), Friday will be heavily cloudy. There will be repeated showers of snow, sleet and hail. Isolated thunderstorms with stormy gusts are possible. Temperatures will reach up to 4 degrees.
Between 10 am and 7 pm, an official warning of storm gusts is in effect for Berlin and parts of Brandenburg. According to the DWD, wind speeds of between 55 and 65 km/h are expected. Near showers and in exposed locations, wind gusts may reach up to 75 km/h. There is a risk of injury from flying objects and falling branches.
On Friday night, conditions will temporarily ease, with further snow showers in some areas. This may result in a thin layer of snow forming in places, and there is also a risk of slippery conditions with lows between -1 and -4 degrees. According to weather experts, Saturday will remain changeable with isolated snow or sleet showers. Isolated thunderstorms with gusts are possible again. Maximum temperatures will range between minus 1 and plus 2 degrees. The wintry showery weather will continue on Sunday, with localised snow showers and maximum temperatures around freezing.
