The holiday travel rush has begun in Berlin and Brandenburg. The Berlin Traffic Information Center (VIZ) expected the heaviest traffic on Friday, but many people will also be setting off on short breaks on Saturday. According to the information available, no major traffic jams are expected on Christmas Eve or on December 25 and 26.
According to VIZ, some restrictions are to be expected on the highways due to construction work. For example, you should allow extra time on the A100 towards Wedding at Detmolder Straße and between Dreieck Funkturm and Spandauer Damm. On the A115, there may be delays between Spanische Allee and Zollamt Dreilinden.
In addition, higher demand is expected not only in public transport, but also at BER Airport. The airport expects a total of around 1.1 million passengers during the holiday season. This is similar to last year's figures. According to VIZ, a total of around 7,300 aircraft will take off and land over the New Year period.
