The Academy of Arts is an international community of artists and one of the oldest art institutions in Europe. Temporary art exhibitions are held at its Hanseatenweg location.

The Akademie der Künste (English: Academy of Arts) was founded in 1696. Since then, in addition to serving as a community of artists, the Academy has not only fulfilled representative and advisory roles but has also regarded itself as a "school of higher learning." It thus follows in the tradition of the academies founded in Rome and Paris, which embody the idea that art, like the natural sciences, can be learned.

Location of the Junge Akademie on Hanseatenweg

The Academy of Arts has two locations in Berlin. In addition to the building on Hanseatenweg, it has its headquarters on Pariser Platz. The Academy of Arts on Hanseatenweg houses, among other things, the Junge Akademie (English: Young Academy) and the studios for electroacoustic music. An international fellowship program at the Young Academy is designed to facilitate interdisciplinary exchange among artists. The fellows' work is regularly exhibited at the Hanseatenweg location. In the studio for electroacoustic music, young sound artists can experiment and present their works.
