Those who have had enough of the contemplative Christmas season can end it in style and send Christmas trees whirling through the air.

Start the new year with enthusiasm: At Ikea's traditional "Knut" Christmas tree throwing championship, participants compete to throw Christmas trees as far as possible. Each person gets one attempt. Various small prizes are awarded for particularly long throws. The best throwers in the various categories each receive a shopping voucher. Participants do not need to bring their own trees; the trees for throwing will be provided. In 2026, the event took place at the Ikea stores in Tempelhof and Lichtenberg.
