Berlin Events in August
Pop-Kultur, Zug der Liebe, Tanz im August, Long Night of Museums and much more
To mark the 65th anniversary of the construction of the Berlin Wall, a diverse program of exhibitions, concerts and guided tours commemorates the division of Berlin.
The focus is on a temporary memorial site at the Brandenburg Gate featuring an open-air exhibition and a 30-meter-long installation. The program also includes guided tours, film screenings, readings and discussions with eyewitnesses. Visitors can experience different perspectives on the division of Germany and its consequences.
Even beyond the Brandenburg Gate, numerous events throughout Berlin invite people to explore the history of Germany's division. Highlights include concerts by hackedepicciotto and Masha Qrella, as well as the main commemorative event at the Berlin Wall Memorial. The program is complemented by the Asisi Panorama, a guided tour through a historic escape tunnel at Berliner Unterwelten Museum, as well as the reading "Mauerpogo" about queerness, punk and resistance in the GDR.
