Wilmersdorf: Residential Areas & Infrastructure

In the north, Wilmersdorf is elegant, lively and exclusive. The center of the district is more middle-class while the Schmargendorf neighborhood boasts an almost small-town flair and lots of nature and greenery.

Residential Areas

Grunewald is home to many villas and, thanks to the forest of the same name, is also an important recreational area in Berlin. Halensee is a relatively unspectacular neighborhood located at the western end of Ku'damm. Schmargendorf, around Hohenzollerndamm and Berkaer Straße, is dominated by apartment buildings and single-family houses. Things are quite tranquil here.

Location

Wilmersdorf is located in the southwest of Berlin, but still relatively central.

Public Transport

Local public transport is very well developed. The district is served by various S-Bahn and subway lines plus buses.

Traffic Axes

Wilmersdorf has access to the city highway and Avus in the southwest. Important traffic axes are Königsallee, Hohenzollerndamm/Clayallee, Breite Straße/Mecklenburgische Straße/Uhlandstraße, Kaiser-Friedrich-Straße/Brandenburgische Straße/Berliner Straße and Blissestraße.
