The historic Admiralbrücke in Berlin Kreuzberg is the oldest surviving wrought-iron bridge over the Landwehr Canal.

The Admiralbrücke (Admiral Bridge) connects the Fraenkelufer and Planufer banks of the Landwehr Canal in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It was built according to plans by Georg Pinkenburg between 1880 and 1882. The Admiralbrücke is the oldest iron bridge over the Landwehr Canal in Berlin and is a listed building. The predecessor to today's bridge was a wooden bascule bridge called Badbrücke, which was used to cross the canal at this point. In 1880, the wooden bridge was replaced by today's wrought-iron arch bridge. It was given its new name after the Admiralstraße that ran over it. The original ornate wrought-iron railings with leaf ornaments still adorn the bridge today. The Admiral Bridge was renovated in 1984. What remains is an island of big-city romance. Following complaints from residents about nighttime noise caused by too many visitors, it has been agreed that the bridge will be cleared every evening at 10 p.m. with police assistance, in a peaceful and amicable manner.
