The Rabbit Indie Games Residency returns in 2026

Down the rabbit hole: Four weeks away from everyday distractions, surrounded by other indie developers, coaches – and quite a lot of Brandenburg countryside.

From October 26 to November 20, The Rabbit Indie Games Residency returns to COCONAT, bringing 15 selected game developers together to focus entirely on taking their projects to the next level.

Described by its organisers as “Europe’s first fully funded indie games residency”, The Rabbit gives developers something that can be particularly difficult to find in the indie scene: time, space and financial support to concentrate on their game. Accommodation, three meals a day and a €500 stipend are included, with additional travel support available depending on individual needs.

But The Rabbit is not simply a month-long retreat. The residency combines dedicated development time with individual coaching, workshops, peer-to-peer exchange and preparation for conversations with publishers and investors. Each team receives tailored support based on what its project needs – whether that is pitching, narrative, marketing or technology.

From 151 applications to 15 Rabbits

Interest in the 2026 edition was international: The Rabbit received 151 applications from more than 50 countries, representing almost 335 developers. From these, 15 participants were selected for this year’s residency. According to the organisers, 60 percent of the cohort come from genders that are underrepresented in the games industry. Diversity is a central part of the program, with a particular focus on welcoming developers from underrepresented communities and the Global South.

The selected projects include:

  • Tinker – Burnout Simulator – Berlin
  • Googy Studios – You Don’t Belong Here – Berlin
  • Findling Games – WATERFUL – Berlin
  • Hellfire Railway Interactive – Mutasmagoria – Berlin
  • Superpose Press – Hot Pink Detective – Berlin / US
  • Juno Menager – 4MECHEROS – Spain
  • Flaco – Lunar Hunter – Uruguay

With five of the seven participating projects connected to Berlin, this year’s selection also reflects the strength and diversity of GamesCapitalBerlin’s indie development scene.

The residency ultimately leads back to Berlin. During Games Ground Berlin, November 5–8, the participants will present their projects at the dedicated Rabbit Pitch Showcase, putting the pitching and storytelling skills developed during the programme directly into practice in front of the industry.

The programme is supported by Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg, linking international indie talent with the region’s wider games ecosystem.
