The pier at the bridge Hansabrücke serves as a point of departure for river cruises through the historic centre of Berlin but also for longer cruises as far as Kreuzberg. Right next to the pier a restaurant ship is moored permanently. The bridge and the pier are located in the Hansaviertel, a small locality between Tiergarten and the river Spree. In the late 1950s the neighbourhood was rebuilt as a housing estate. the buildings were conceived by famous architects such as Alvar Aalto, Walter Gropius and Oscar Niemeyer. The whole ensemble is protected as a historic monument.
