Give yourself over to absolute pleasure.

A young conservative couple get engaged at a cemetery and then take a trip to visit a teacher in whose class they first met. On the way, the lovers’ car breaks down in the middle of the night. Looking for help, they end up at a castle occupied by a group of hedonistic partygoers and their leader, the eccentric scientist Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who is in the process of creating Rocky, the perfect man. The couple end up becoming immersed in a strange and unfamiliar world – a world full of lust, music, and sex. By the time they finally leave, they have been completely transformed.

The Rocky Horror Picture Show was originally a box-office bomb when it was released in 1975, but it later unexpectedly became a cult classic. The midnight screenings of the movie, which were accompanied by the lively and sensual participation of audiences, as well as performances by legendary “shadow casts” of amateur artists, were unrestrained celebrations of queerness, B-horror film effects, science fiction, extravagance, and glamour.

Together with the legendary Berlin drag queens Judy LaDivina and Bibingka, the RambaZamba Ensemble invites you to enjoy an evening that continues the Rocky Horror tradition in a new way – as an inclusive Drag Night! The art of drag plays around with notions of gender and examines gender within the framework of a performative experience – in wild lip-syncing performances of pop songs, in intimate monologues, and in direct encounters with audiences. “Otherness” in this context is not concealed, nor is it judged. Instead, it is celebrated in a splendid manner in an act of emancipation. Like The Rocky Horror Picture Show, drag creates spaces of liberation in which the meaning of bodies, desires and a sense of belonging are

re-examined.

The RambaZamba Ensemble is opening its own “castle” in the Kulturbrauerei as a sanctuary for all creatures of the night, particularly those who need to be concerned about their own freedom, safety, and integrity in these times of social polarization. The players cordially invite these people and everyone else to enjoy an evening of eroticism, free love, and participation. But enter at your own risk!

Note: Admission to The Rocky Horror Drag Show is restricted to guests aged 18 and over, as alcohol will be served during the event. We also issue the following trigger warnings: the production contains explicit sexual content, the use of artificial fog, strobe effects, loud noises, loud music, and depictions of drug use.
