How can different forms of remembrance coexist through respectful mutual recognition? The performance “Remembering Across Borders” and a discussion about the project of the same name approach this question in different ways.

The performance explores creatively, musically, and participatively the idea that remembrance is not a zero-sum game. Excluding or pitting against one another those affected by racism and antisemitism leads to a dead end. “Remembering Across Borders” proposes new ways of thinking about the remembrance of colonialism and the Holocaust in a universalist and solidaristic manner, while also keeping present-day German society in view.

The discussion introduces the project together with its participants. Afro-German and Jewish voices are brought into the conversation, making visible the experiences, connections, and tensions that shape remembrance.
