Prometheus confused

Prometheus is confused. Like so many young people, he asks himself: Who or what defines me? What does my existence mean in relation to my surroundings? What drives me to either uphold existing orders or seek to break them down? He meets Gaia, who reminds him that the world’s resources are finite. Driven by his own values, he constantly tries to do ‘the right thing’ and, in doing so, comes into conflict with the ruler Kronos. Together with Zeus, Prometheus completely disrupts the order of the Titans’ galaxy. They both fight for their own vision of a good world. But what is a good world? What is the right thing to do?

Greek mythology tells us a great deal about relationships. The play is based on Franz Fühmann’s "Prometheus – The Battle of the Titans". Inspired by drag, it draws parallels with the present day through the use of video projections, amongst other elements.

---Anna C. Ortmann is an actor, theatre educator, lecturer and workshop leader. Helena Kauschke is a cultural and media educator, theatre studies scholar and performer. Both also perform as drag kings. When they met at a show, they came up with the idea of creating a drag-inspired play together as FLUIDUM.
