How can you create theatre whilst people are protesting on the streets to defend democracy and oppose a shift towards autocracy? A young Georgian collective combines personal memories with photographs, videos, live music, drag and fiction.The starting point for “Nothing Political” is the controversial parliamentary elections of October 2024 and the subsequent protests against the government’s political course, in particular against the abandonment of Georgia’s constitutionally enshrined European integration. The members of the collective who developed the performance took part in the demonstrations in Tbilisi themselves.On stage, personal memories and documentary material such as photos and recordings are interwoven with live music, drag and fiction. Political events become personal stories; personal stories merge into fiction. Navigating between pain, solidarity, humour and hope, “Nothing Political” recounts the protests and brings together voices, gestures and images that resist oblivion. The result is a contradictory, polyphonic archive of a present defined by political resistance.Press:“What stands out most clearly is the work’s resistance to explanation.
