What makes us who we are? Inspired by Hans Christian Andersens’ „The Ugly Duckling“, Laurie Cannac and Andy Scott Ngoua tell a story about transformation, exclusion and finding yourself. In a poetic combination of puppet theater, dance and visual vernacular, dream-like images between despair, desire and liberation are created with puppets, projects, a convertible stage and live music. „La Langue des Cygnes“ was created through a collaboration between Deaf and hearing artists. The performance text was developed in French Sign Language which realizes its poetic quality and richness of expression here. In the projected performance of Deaf performer Karine Feuillebois and integrated in the choreographic physical expression, it becomes a universally accessible stage language.
