»You write your reality, you write your city, you take its measure for yourself and create it by populating it with characters.« Thomas Brasch.

Sakko and Oi have time – too much time, and they spend it in the fantasies of other lived realities. In Mercedes Thomas Brasch wrote a play which circles around in neutral. Lena Brasch explodes this experimental set-up with an additional mysterious character who doesn’t fit into the structure at all. Together they create their own mythology. Because the rulers create the myths elsewhere, but in Thomas Brasch’s works the marginalised become heroes. In addition to Sakko and Oi, the same is true, for example, for the young Lisa from Brasch’s film Domino. »The new doesn’t work, and neither does the old« exclaims an actress in search of art’s utopian potential in the midst of a world that seems to follow deeply entrenched rules. Just as formative for Brasch as this search was the city of Berlin, a poetic place populated by his characters. Director Lena Brasch also uses a musically powerful approach to examine his work. She reflects on her Berlin, and that of her uncle, from his times through the present and beyond.
