RUNDFUNKCHORLOUNGE

"Die andere Hälfte des Olymp" - Frauen, Macht und Mythos

Echoes of Identity: Myth and Music

At the end of the season, the RundfunkchorLounge explores the rich tonal and cultural landscape of gender. Questions of gender and identity are far from new – even in antiquity, they were explored in diverse and surprising ways. Take Greek mythology, for example, where identities stretch well beyond simple binaries.

What kinds of sounds emerge when we break down the boundaries of gender? And what can music reveal about role models, identities, and social expectations? In this programme, ancient myths meet contemporary perspectives – through both conversation and music.

Join us for the season’s final RundfunkchorLounge at the cozy Heimathafen Neukölln, where the Rundfunkchor Berlin, led by Gijs Leenaars, presents exciting insights and musical contrasts. Expert talks will accompany the evening, shedding light on historical and current topics while placing the music in a broader social context.

The concert will be recorded by Deutschlandfunk Kultur and broadcast on 9 July 2026.
