Ingrid Arthur - Gospel Experience

Get ready for church! On November 1, Ingrid Arthur & The Gospel Voices of America will bring the full power of the American gospel tradition to the stage.

Backed by a large vocal ensemble (including Keith Tynes!) and a full band, Arthur presents a program ranging from classics like “Oh Happy Day” to soul and spirituals. Born in Gainesville, Georgia, Ingrid Arthur grew up immersed in the American gospel tradition and, over the course of her career, has worked with some of the genre’s most prominent voices, including Cissy Houston, Tramaine Hawkins, Shirley Caesar, and Dorothy Norwood. She toured for several years with the Golden Gospel Singers before later gaining international recognition as a member of the Weather Girls.

Arthur has lived in Berlin since 2002, where she also founded the 100% Gospel Workshop in 2007. With the Gospel Voices of America, Arthur now focuses on the music of her own musical roots. Polyphonic singing, a large band, and the direct connection between the stage and the audience define an evening where singing along, clapping, and standing up are expressly encouraged.
