LiveWhat is an observatory, and how does a telescope work? We’ll explore these questions and take a look at one of the world’s longest telescopes together. As we examine our large meteorite, we’ll marvel at what’s flying around in space and sometimes falls to Earth. To wrap things up, the group will explore the planetarium and discover the beauty of the night sky. We’ll explain some telescopes and simple constellations to the children, and of course, they’ll have the chance to ask all the questions they’ve brought with them to the “Star House.”The Archenhold Observatory is one of astronomy’s most special places: it is Germany’s oldest and largest public observatory and is home to the world’s longest movable refracting telescope.Image © SPB / Photo: F.-M.
