This is an invitation to all those who dwell among us and yet remain mostly invisible – ghosts and spectres, genies and monsters, zombies and the undead who keep haunting the political culture of the present. To speak of them means opening up to welcome that which underlies each and every society: the skeletons in the cupboards, the rubble beneath our roads, forgotten names, shredded files and that which is not entirely dead and buried. Gras will ultimately grow over our cities to cover that which was excluded or repressed – and yet, it won’t cease to make its demands on the present. So what do we owe to the dead? What do the genies whisper about? What future do zombies dream of? And which monsters should we dread, which monsters are dreading us? These and similar questions will be explored by the philosopher Fabian Bernhardt and guests, to sound out in one-on-one conversations, between us, the limits of this fragile and dubious notion of We. At Roter Salon, the table will be set for the unnamed, for all the ghosts, genies and monsters of our postmigrant present.
