TikTok Kolloquium is hosted by Vera Klocke and Freya Herrmann, the creators of the podcast Fashion The Gaze, who will talk about the political impacts and implications of today’s social media (self-)presentations and productions. The issues addressed are the disciplining of the body, the politics of visibility and neo-fascist videos on TikTok. Analyzing these (re)presentations is understood as a form of resistance and cultural critique amid rightwing populist normalization practices. The TikTok Kolloquium will take place at Volksbühne’s Roter Salon as a live recorded podcast.
Freya Herrmann is a costume designer and screenwriter.

Vera Klocke is head of the consumer culture research centre at Hildesheim University and a freelance author. FASHION THE GAZE is a monthly event to be live-broadcast and available for download on all podcast platforms.
