How fibers are turned into clothing: In the museum village, we show how things to wear are made from natural raw materials in the medieval way.

From the wool of freshly shorn sheep to the finished product, on this day you can see how clothing was made in the Middle Ages. Raw wool becomes thread, thread becomes fabric or rope and fabric becomes tunics, dresses and headgear. At a hands-on station, people of all ages can try their hand at weaving with flax, hemp and wool. And in a fashion show, they will learn about the clothing and trends of the Middle Ages.

Renowned textile archaeologist Dr. Katrin Kania will be showing her detailed work with historical fibers. She will give visitors fascinating insights into an ancient craft. The accompanying program for the whole family includes fairy tales with the juggler Astor Ytellar. At the photo station, children and adults can also slip into medieval garb for a souvenir picture.

Accessibility: Most of the attractions can be experienced with all the senses. In addition, there will be a guided tour at 1 pm with mediator Christine Rieger, who will accompany interested blind and visually impaired people through the event. In preparation for your visit, we also offer detailed information about accessibility in our open-air museum.
