Sachsenhausen

The concentration camp near the Reich capital of Berlin

Book Presentation: Prof. Dr. Günter Morsch, *
* Moderator: Prof. Dr. Axel Drecoll

(In collaboration with the Brandenburg Memorial Sites Foundation and BeBra Verlag)

The Sachsenhausen concentration camp, built by prisoners in 1936, held a special position within the entire system of Nazi concentration camps: as the SS’s central model and training camp, as the largest camp at the start of World War II, and as the administrative center of the entire concentration camp regime. In his newly published book *Sachsenhausen: The Concentration Camp Near the Reich Capital Berlin* (2026), Günter Morsch presents a comprehensive account, from the camp’s beginnings to the liberation of the prisoners in 1945.
