Nachtcafé, Lesezone, Lesebühne, Literatur and now Parole Text:Buch – these are old and new descriptions for our special event format at Volksbühne’s Roter Salon venue, which has been focusing on the written word for over 30 years: book launches, texts attracting special attention by a fresh interpretation, or texts that are rescued by a courageous publisher from sinking into oblivion.
The whole spectrum of genres is represented: books of fiction, short stories, political texts, the out-of-the-ordinary non-fiction, plays and dramas, poetry, essays, biographical texts, no-mainstream texts and our special focus – the debut. All the books presented here are captivating in their own ways, and the audience is invited to enjoy much more than just book readings and artist talks: there is also live (or canned) music, film, dance, and no limit to the imagination.
And the famous bar at Roter Salon offers a variety of beverages, as the A to Z of reading events would be incomplete without treating yourself to a nice drink at your table.
