Archaeological finds are often severely damaged when unearthed or at risk of disintegration. It is the job of conservators to secure, repair, and preserve them. This is part of the daily routine at PETRI Berlin.
At the workshop table in the exhibition, a student from the Berlin University of Applied Sciences demonstrates how restoration works. He shares his knowledge and answers questions. Up close, you can see how an original artifact is treated, what methods and tools are used, and what the biggest challenges are.
The workshop table is located in front of the restoration workshop on the 2nd floor. Just stop by—no registration required, anytime!
This free event is open to adults and children ages 6 and up. Adults pay the regular admission price for the exhibition: 6 euros / reduced rate 3 euros. Admission is free for children and teens up to age 18.
