Hansaviertel

Archtekturführungen

Discover the Hansaviertel, a showcase of post-war modernism where renowned architects reimagined urban living.

Built for the 1957 International Building Exhibition, the Hansaviertel is a landmark of post-war modernist architecture and urban planning. Designed by more than 50 renowned architects, including Alvar Aalto, Walter Gropius and Oscar Niemeyer, the district reflects the ideals of international modernism. Its diverse mix of housing types, set within a spacious green landscape, offers a striking contrast to the large-scale housing concepts developed in East Berlin at the same time.
