Lecture and Discussion:
Prof. Dr. Paul Weindling
Prof. Dr. Herwig Czech
(In collaboration with the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science e. V.)
The connections between Nazi persecution and extermination policies and scientific collections were long overlooked. The Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research in Berlin-Buch and the German Research Institute for Psychiatry in Munich took advantage of the opportunity presented by the Nazi regime to acquire thousands of brain specimens for research purposes. The collections established at that time were transferred to the Max Planck Institutes for Brain Research and for Psychiatry after the war ended.Translated with DeepL
