With a live hostBlack holes are among the most fascinating phenomena in the universe. Conventional physics and our imagination reach their limits when it comes to these mysterious, virtually invisible phenomena. Black holes are being intensively studied worldwide using a wide variety of methods. In April 2019, using the so-called “Event Horizon Telescope”—a network of radio telescopes spread across the globe—scientists presented the first-ever high-resolution image of a black hole in a distant galaxy—a sensation! With the help of unique visualizations, we’ll give you a closer look at this enigmatic phenomenon. Learn how and where black holes form, what makes them so special, and how they can be studied.Coffee, Cake, and Cosmos ComboThis event can be booked as part of the “Coffee, Cake, and Cosmos Combo” (Thu–Sun, 3–7 p.m. at the Zeiss Grand Planetarium).
