Berlin Titscher Masters 2026

Stones are flying again in Berlin: At the 3rd Berlin Titscher Masters, throwers from Germany and several European countries are competing against each other at the Freischwimmer Berlin.

In addition to the German championship titles, the competition is also about international titles—and qualifying for the 2027 World Stone Skimming Championship in Scotland. What usually begins at the lake with a search for the perfect flat stone becomes a competitive sport in Berlin: At the Berlin Titscher Masters, it’s not the number of skips that counts, but the distance. Three stones per round, an official judging panel, and a measuring line along the water’s edge determine who ultimately takes home the trophies. Following the 2024 and 2025 editions, the Berlin Titscher Masters will take place this year for the first time in the heart of Kreuzberg. The venue is Freischwimmer Berlin on the former Ipse site, right on the water.

International Field of Competitors at the Berlin Titscher Masters

For the third edition, in addition to German competitors, numerous international throwers are expected—including participants from the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Belgium, and the Netherlands. Among them are successful competitors and title holders from international stone-skimming competitions. The event will feature the German men’s and women’s championship titles, the international men’s and women’s titles, a separate Kids Competition for children up to and including age 13, and the Team Champion title for teams of four. Adding to the excitement is the prospect of a trip to Scotland: The winners of the Berlin Titscher Masters will qualify for the 2027 World Stone Skimming Championship on Easdale Island.

From Amateur to Pro

It’s not just experienced stone skimmers who can participate. The Berlin Titscher Masters is explicitly designed as an open tournament: Beginners are also welcome to sign up and see how far they can make a stone skip across the water. Stones will be provided on site. Participants may also bring their own unpolished natural stones. For a valid throw, the stone must skip across the water at least twice; for kids, one skip is enough. The distance is measured from the point of release to the point where the stone sinks into the water.
