How can varying experiences of lack of control, affliction and injustice be connected to collectively interrogate the structures that have come to define our lives? The book “A Theatre of Powerlessness” contains critical essays and conversations between international artists and activists that explore knowledge-generating practices through the optic of powerlessness and marginalised experience. The book takes its starting point from the theatre project “Inventory of Powerlessness” (2013–2016), which Edit Kaldor also realised at HAU in 2015 as part of “The Power of Powerlessness”.Edit Kaldor is a theatre maker and author based in Amsterdam who is recognised internationally as a unique voice in the contemporary theatre landscape.“A Theatre of Powerlessness” is edited by Edit Kaldor and Joe Kelleher, Professor Emeritus of Theatre and Performance.
