The West is losing influence: economically, politically and morally. Authoritarian forces are gaining strength – even in formerly liberal societies. The global balance of power is shifting and old rules no longer apply. The West’s claim to set worldwide norms is encountering increasing resistance – not only in the Global South, but also within its own societies.
