Amelie Beese, known as Melli, dreamt of flying even as a young woman. She realised her dream at Johannisthal Airfield, very close to the Museum Treptow. Other courageous female pilots, such as Bessie Coleman, Harriet Quimby and Amelia Earhart, also changed the world by taking up a profession that was often thought to only be suited for men. How did they live? What motivated them? Whether aerobatic pilots, aviation pioneers or flight instructors, they were all united by a passion for flying and a great thirst for adventure.

Katja Spitzer and Gareth Harmer will read from their book "The Adventures of the First Female Pilots". Afterwards, it’s off on a treasure hunt through the museum: solving quiz questions, finding clues and discovering exciting exhibits. In the creative workshop, the finds will be transformed into the children’s own works of art.
