In the year 2119, Europe lies largely submerged following a nuclear catastrophe; memories of the wealth, freedom and carefree spirit of the 21st century are now nothing more than a distant longing. Whilst searching for a lost love poem, a literary scholar uncovers clues to a crime. Matthias Brandt reads from Ian McEwan's new novel, which is both a moving love story and a philosophical crime thriller. Organised by Gerhard Ahrens for the Neuhardenberg Castle Foundation.
