Discourse and Soundscapes

In autumn 2026, tak is bringing back a tried-and-tested format to its programme: LONG DISTANCE CONtakT – Discourse and Soundscapes –

Through digital gatherings with artists from all over the world, the programme will explore the present, but above all our shared future.

Following a journey into each other’s realities and discussions about artistic methods, processes and specific projects, host Lydia Ziemke turns the focus to the future – how we might collectively imagine it, what we actually know about it, and how we can shape it together.

This imaginative discourse is interwoven with – and thus fuelled by – inspiring music from Joss Turnbull, performing solo or with other musicians. Joss Turnbull visionarily combines analogue percussion instruments, particularly from the Persian region, with electronic soundscapes.

This combination of discourse and music forms the invitation of this recurring format to relate our challenges to those of colleagues around the world, to actively journey into the future in our minds, and to be able to let go a little whilst immersing ourselves in these soundscapes.

The venue and bar will be open for conversation and relaxation.

 

October 2026:

LONG DISTANT CONtakT will be established with Amer Khalil, artistic director of the EL HAKAWATI Theatre in Jerusalem, and young theatre makers at this venue – in Jerusalem and in the other Palestinian territories, including Gaza. Specifically, the focus will be on the influence of the theatre’s founder Francois Abu Salem, and on two current productions.

Music is provided by Joss Turnbull and Charlie Prince. Electric guitar and percussion engage in an open dialogue. They combine expansive sounds with subtle rhythms, ambient sounds and extended playing techniques. From their collaborative work on THE BODY SYMPHONIC emerges a purely musical duo – graceful, intense and spontaneous.
