Once a month since 2021, the Humboldt Lab has been hosting artistic freedom to shake up the scientific point of view. Equipped with a microphone and amplifier, two slam poets stroll through the exhibition “On Water. WasserWissen in Berlin” to recite texts. Between a digitally animated jellyfish dome, a fifteen-metre-wide cinematic water experience, the 200-year-old relief of the Swiss Alps and a glass of water as if from Mars, visitors are taken on a “verballistic flight” through the science exhibition.

The changing artist duos of #Logoskop transform images from microscopes and periscopes around the world into a poetic show. They offer a deliberately subjective, heretical, humorous look at the exhibits.

If science is queen in the Humboldt Lab, then the #Logoskop is her court jester. With surprise, provocation and anarchic wordplay, the exhibition “On Water” will be both explored and taken for a ride.

The #Logoskop is curated and moderated by Bas Böttcher, the first German poetry slam champion.

If science is queen at Humboldt Lab, then #Logoskop is her court jester. Since 2021, artistic freedom has been making monthly appearances at Humboldt University’s exhibition space, using literature to shake up the scientific perspective. Equipped with microphones and amplifiers, two slam poets wander through the exhibition and recite texts.

This time, slam poets Jan Böttcher and Lucia Lucia will be joining us. Together, they will comment on the exhibition ‘On Water’ with live recitations. Visitors are invited to accompany them on their tour of eloquence.

Jan Böttcher

Jan Böttcher was a lyricist, singer, and guitarist for the Berlin band Herr Nilsson. Even as a solo artist, he has never lost sight of the song form. In 2008, he released the album “Vom anderen Ende des Flures.” Since then, many of his lyrics have been rewritten countless times. He is a poet and the author of a total of seven novels. Jan Böttcher’s poetry and music address remarkable questions: 1. How to find warmth in times of right-wing ideological rabble-rousing. 2. How to express vulnerability, grief, and empathy in songs. To refrain from irony. 3. To cry out because people, villages, and entire regions in this country are turning their backs on democratic discourse. To confront their death wish without scorn, but with vitality and song.

Lucia Lucia

Lucia Lucia gained widespread attention in November 2017 with her performance “Mathilda.” The recording from the finals of the German-Language Poetry Slam Championships went viral, racking up over four million views and generating significant media coverage nationwide. Since then, the Hamburg city champion has been performing on stages throughout Germany and Switzerland and is working on her first solo tour—with a clear focus on writing and performing. She has been part of the poetry slam scene since 2015. Her performances have taken her to venues including the Dockville Festival, the Deichbrand Festival, the Schauspiel Leipzig, the Hanover State Opera, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg. In 2017, she reached the finals of the German-language championships; her final piece, “Mathilda,” recorded by NDR, was viewed millions of times. She can be seen regularly at the Nachtspeicher Hamburg with her solo show “Oh, aber ja.” In 2019, her poetry collection “Texte, die auf Liebe enden” was published by S. Fischer Verlag.

In addition, she is a co-founder and permanent member of the Berlin reading stage Neuköllner Brett, alongside Aron Boks, Wolf Hogekamp, and Jacinta Nandi.
