International Alliances Under Threat

Reflexe & Reflexionen 2026

Supranational alliances are having a tough time. While fundamental problems like climate change and a comprehensive system of rules for AI can only be solved globally, international institutions are increasingly met with resistance. But who will take on the roles of mediation and conflict resolution for global problems then? How will geopolitical conflicts be dealt with in future? Or is the age of rules-based diplomacy over (for now)? These questions will be discussed by the political scholars Peter Neumann and Johannes Varwick with the former General Secretary of Amnesty International, Markus N. Beeko.
