Berlin picks up speed: Round trip from Potsdam

Depending on their age, the carriages from the 1930s to the 1960s evoke memories or make traveling by train a completely new experience.

The steam locomotive tour takes you through Brandenburg and Berlin. The journey begins at Potsdam Central Station with a view of the city harbor, the Potsdam state parliament, and the city center. The route then continues through the Havel landscape and on toward Berlin. Via Caputh and Schwielowsee, the route leads through the Havel lake region. We then pass the Seddin marshalling yard, an important logistics location for freight transport. The journey continues through the Teltow-Fläming region via Saarmund, Ludwigsfelde, and Genshagen to the former Schönefeld airport station. We then head towards Berlin city center. Passing the Adlershof science and technology park, we reach the Berlin-Schöneweide railway depot, home to the Berlin Steam Locomotive Enthusiasts. A stop is planned there, where we will have the opportunity to learn about the technology of steam locomotives. We then travel along Berlin's inner ring, which runs mainly parallel to the S-Bahn. The route takes us through Neukölln, past the former airfield and Reichspostamt Tempelhof, the Südkreuz station, and on to Wilmersdorf. From there, we head west through the Grunewald, Berlin's largest contiguous forest area. Along the Wannsee and past Babelsberg, we return to the Potsdam city area.
