TEENIE TIMES is a state of being. TEENIE TIMES is about re-learning for a new era. In an artistic and experimental setting designed to foster self-empowerment, expression and exchange – somewhere between a racing heart and a loss of control – twenty Berlin teenagers and a teen band explore the theme of transformation. Transformation on a small and large scale, in minds, bodies, rooms and (in a frighteningly delightful dimension) the world.

A new wall colour for a cool video.A bold decision for a better future.A different hair colour as an identity.A new beginning as a prerequisite for something we do not yet know.TEENIE TIMES conceives of the world as something in flux:

What can we influence?Where does agency begin – and how does it feel?

At the heart of change: the amygdala. A small, vibrating archive of fear, desire, anger. Here, emotions are not explained, but ignited. Here the question begins: with what forces within us do we reshape the world for new times?

Twenty young people from Berlin and a youth band from the teeny Musik treff are working with the production team led by Pauline Jacob and Lisa Florentine Schmalz from the music theatre collective staatsoper24, alongside performance artist Anne Pretzsch, composer Dariya Maminova and band leader Lukas Macher. They are developing texts, songs and music theatre scenes about the turbulent phase of life they are currently experiencing themselves.

Artists/Collaborators: Pauline Jacob / staatsoper24 (Künstlerische Leitung), Anne Pretzsch (Künstlerische Leitung), Lisa Florentine Schmalz / staatsoper24 (Künstlerische Leitung), Dariya Maminova (Komposition), Maria Gimpel (Bühne), Janina Capelle (Kostüme), Lukas Macher (Bandworkshops), Octavia Gloggengießer (Betreuung Bands), Karin Perk (Betreuung Bands), Fanny Frohnmeyer (Dramaturgie), Sebastian Hanusa (Dramaturgie), Anne Keil (Dramaturgie), Berliner Jugendlichen (Mit)
