Somatic Exercises in the Exhibition

Moderated by Thesea Rigou and Riley Davidson, this workshop invites participants to explore the exhibitions through movement and physical response. Over two hours, Riley and Thesea will guide participants through individual and group exercises inspired by specific artworks and themes from the shows.

The workshop is open to all abilities – no prior experience is required. Wear comfortable, movement-friendly clothing and shoes. The meeting point of this workshop is the Ticket Counter of KW. The primary language of the workshop is English.

Thesea Rigou (they/them) is a Cypriot interdisciplinary artist, educator, and gardener based in Berlin. Their artistic practice centers on socio-ecological themes, weaving together installations, performances, and printmaking through a blend of theoretical inquiry and material experimentation. As an art educator, Rigou enjoys hosting safer spaces for critical dialogue and political engagement, drawing on experience in collaborative and self-organized projects.

Riley Davidson (they/them) is a US American interdisciplinary artist working in Berlin at the intersection of performance, ritual and social critique. Davidson has a background in butoh, clowning, contemporary dance and queer performance styles like drag, burlesque and ritual performance. Davidson works with participatory theater and experience design as a tool for embodied political education through ritual and myth adaptation. A self proclaimed “feral artist”, their work is both site and community specific; an affective response to their social topography, a confrontation with the structures that govern us.

This format was originally conceived by Alvin Collantes and Thesea Rigou.
