Remembering in Wartime – Memory in Transition. Ukrainian culture of remembrance in the context of the ongoing war.

How does the ongoing violence in Europe transform the way we view history? This event examines the impact of Russia’s war of aggression on contemporary Ukrainian culture of remembrance and on museum work relating to the Second World War. The focus is on current, socially driven forms of commemoration as well as the working conditions of sites of historical learning in times of war. We also draw parallels with Berlin’s landscape of remembrance and invite reflection on German and Ukrainian perspectives.
