Forest bathing, known as Shinrin Yoku in Japanese, refers to consciously spending time among trees, engaging all the senses. As a team, you move slowly, pause, and each person smells, touches, and listens at their own pace. Studies show that even a short session like this reduces stress hormones and restores focus.
Hardly any other place is as well-suited for Shinrin Yoku—forest bathing—as this one. Across 43 hectares, plant life from entire continents thrives here; just a few steps separate the native deciduous forest from the Alps, the Caucasus, and the Far East. This density and diversity make forest bathing in the Botanical Garden a truly special experience. Our tour isn’t about seeing as much as possible, but about slowing down.
On this trail through the outdoor grounds—tailored to your group —we’ll guide you to some of the garden’s quiet corners. Amid ancient trees and expansive meadows, guided awareness exercises will accompany you. No prior knowledge or special physical fitness is required—just time and a willingness to embrace a different pace.
In case of bad weather, the tour will still take place—we may move indoors to the greenhouses if necessary.
The Berlin Botanical Garden is committed to promoting health through nature.
As part of this pilot project, we invite you to provide feedback after the workshop and, in this way, help develop a participatory concept for team events in 2027.
As a thank-you, participation in the workshop and admission to the garden are free of charge.
The pilot project is funded by the Berlin Senate Department for the Environment.
Number of participants: max. 15 people
Target audience: Adults
Participation fees: per person as part of the pilot project: none; admission is free.
