Open Lab for Families – Our Raw Materials of the Future

Drop-in-workshop

Imagine that the raw materials of the future could be right in our drawers! This afternoon, we will dive into the world of "urban mining" together and discover how we can collect raw materials sustainably in our city. Many of us have old and new cell phones at home that contain valuable sensors, metals, LEDs and rare earths. At the Futurium Lab, we will examine these components in more detail.

Using motors and sensors, we will develop and implement creative ideas for the future! As a family, you can playfully develop sustainable products from the components of old cell phones. We will build prototypes using the Calliope mini, Calli:bot and Wackelbots. You will use Open Roberta Lab for programming. Mentors will be on hand to answer any questions.

The drop-in format is open and differs from traditional workshops. We plan for you to spend around 20 minutes in the lab to get your first taste of the technology and the future topic. If it is particularly busy, it is possible that not all participants will be able to try out all the stations. So be flexible and take the opportunity to get involved in the exciting topics!

Cooperation

The drop-in format takes place as an "open Roberta project" in cooperation with the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft zur Förderung der angewandten Forschung e.V. for its Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS.
